Personal Information

Edward Album was educated in London, and at Oxford University where he received an M.A. Degree in Jurisprudence. He was awarded the Winter Williams Law Scholarship and Honorary Scholarship at his college, Christ Church.  He subsequently held a Teaching Fellowship at the University of Chicago.

He joined a leading law firm in the City of London and became a partner and joint head of the Company and Commercial Department.

He then moved to a merchant bank before becoming a director of an international trading company, with treasury and legal responsibilities.  He was subsequently appointed legal adviser for the international group, comprising trading and shipping divisions and including also banking and finance work.

He has held directorships in substantial public and private companies.

He holds Fellowships of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Association of Corporate Treasurers and the Institute of Directors.

He served for a lengthy period as an active member of the Legal UK Committee, under Dame Elizabeth Gloster as Chair, and was a nominated consultant to the Law Commission in their recent review of the Arbitration Act.
