Edward Album is a senior and experienced arbitrator with particular expertise in international contracts and commodity transactions. He is a solicitor and former partner of a major City law firm.

As an arbitrator over a lengthy period, he holds the following appointments or organisation memberships:

  • London Court of International Arbitration – Panel Member
  • Chartered Institute of Arbitrators – Fellow, with Panel Status
  • London Metal Exchange – Member of Panel and Chairman of Arbitration Panel Committee
  • International Chamber of Commerce, London Branch – Member
  • London Maritime Arbitration Association – Supporting Member
  • Railway Industry Disputes Panel
  • Dubai International Arbitration Centre – Arbitrator

His cases have included those where he has been part of a two or three member arbitration tribunal and where he has been sole arbitrator.  In the case of three member tribunals, he has frequently acted as Chairman, accompanied by trade arbitrators.  He has also acted as an arbitrator in ad hoc arbitrations.

He is experienced in all aspects of the arbitration process, including the preparation of complex awards, legal analysis involving English Law and the laws of other jurisdictions (including Canada, China, India and South Africa) and handling, for example, applications for security for costs, as well as awards of costs and interest after a decision has been reached.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and of the Association of Corporate Treasurers, and is experienced in corporate and financial transactions and procedures.
